ICLAP 2017

The Linguistic Association of Pakistan has taken the initiative of this annual conference, recognizing the absence of a platform that provides an opportunity for all concerned stakeholders working in different areas of linguistics and languages to come together and share their concerns, challenges, issues, experiences, innovative methods, and frameworks.

The conference has now emerged as the largest forum available annually to linguists, educators, and researchers. Therefore, the conference themes and sub-themes are purposefully kept broad to cover a wide range of sub-fields, allowing potential presenters and audiences to interact meaningfully.

Please make sure to include the following information (in the given order) in your abstract:

• Title of your paper: The words in the title should be initially capitalized, and the title should not exceed **12 words**.
• Author information: Include **name(s), affiliation(s), and email ID(s)**.
• Body of the abstract: The body should comprise around **400 words**, distributed as follows:
  • Background/Introduction (50 words)
  • Problem (50 words)
  • Research objective/purpose/question (50 words)
  • Scope/limitations (50 words)
  • Methodology (design/approach/instruments/procedure) (100 words)
  • Results/findings/conclusions (50 words)
  • Implications/beneficiaries (50 words)
  All paragraphs should be **left- and right-justified** with **Times New Roman font, size 12, and line spacing 1**.
• Keywords: Provide up to **6 keywords**.
• References: Include a minimum of **2 references** and a maximum of **5 references**. Preferably use the **APA citation style**.

Abstracts not conforming to these guidelines may not be considered for review.

Students and young scholars who have just started or are in the middle of their thesis/research work are encouraged to submit abstracts mentioning their ideas and progress. There is a good chance for such submissions to be accepted for **poster presentations**.

Guidelines for Posters

After acceptance, poster presenters are required to prepare their posters following these guidelines:

• The poster should be in **portrait format**, and its size should not exceed **36"x48"**.
• The **abstract title, authors, and affiliations** should be indicated in a heading at the top of the poster.
• Lettering for the title line should be at least **1" high (around font size 72)**, and other text should be readable from a distance (**around font size 24-48**).
• Keep visual materials simple and clear.
• Divide content into sections, such as **Introduction, Analysis, and Results**.
• Avoid more than **3 paragraphs of text per section**.
• Use **graphs, charts, tables, and pictures** to communicate information effectively.

Presenters are required to submit soft copies of the posters via email and provide printed copies at the conference site for display during the event.

ICLAP 2017 seeks proposals to conduct tutorials/workshops on any topic related to language, linguistics, and related fields. Tutorials should be of **1.5 hours** in length. For workshops and in-depth tutorials, proposals for **two slots** can be submitted. The tutorials/workshops should preferably cover advances in newly emerging areas.

Submission Guidelines

Proposals for tutorials/workshops should be submitted via email in **PDF format** to **iclap2017@gmail.com** by **May 31, 2017**. The subject line of the email should read: '**Tutorial/Workshop Proposal for ICLAP 2017**'.

Proposal Requirements

Each proposal should contain the following information:

• **Tutorial/Workshop title**
• **Brief description** of the tutorial/workshop contents and its relevance to the language/linguistics community (not more than **1 page**)
• **Brief outline** of the tutorial/workshop structure showing that the contents will be covered within the allocated time slot
• **Characterization of the potential target audience** for the tutorial/workshop
• **Instructor information:** Names, postal addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, including a one-paragraph statement of their research interests and areas of expertise
• A list of previous venues, if the same or a similar tutorial/workshop has been conducted elsewhere
• **Special requirements** for technical equipment (e.g., internet access)
