Humanities Department of the NED University of Engineering & Technology in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) will host the 3rd International Conference of the Linguistic Association of Pakistan (ICLAP 2017) between 12-14 October 2017 in Karachi. The theme of this year's conference is Global Developments and Local Perspectives: Expanding Scope for Linguistic Studies and Applied Linguistic Practice that aims to explore the newer interrelationships, counter-arguments, innovative methods and applications that emerge at the nexus of the global developments impacting regional settings.
The Linguistic Association of Pakistan (LAP) is a unique platform of its kind in the country that brings together leading academics, experts, professionals, scientists, researchers and research scholars from across the globe as well as Pakistan who are connected with linguistics, languages, and applied linguistics disciplines so as to exchange and share their knowledge, experiences, and research findings that would help varied stakeholders in finding answers and in identifying solutions to inform practice and policy. The conference programme will feature keynote and plenary speeches, oral and poster presentations, workshops, and panel discussions.
Researchers are invited to submit their abstracts of papers on original and unpublished research work in any dimension of theoretical or applied linguistics for presentation in the conference by June 30, 2017 via Easy Chair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iclap2017). Please follow the Guidelines for Abstracts, given on the website.
All abstracts accepted for presentation will be published in the conference book and full papers (after peer-refereeing) will be published in the Journal of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Research (JSSIR) - a peer-refereed, internationally indexed journal, and also included in the list of HEC recognized journals which is being brought out by the Humanities Department, NED University.
In case of any problem or difficulty with the online submission system, the abstracts can also be submitted to iclap2017@gmail.com. The subject line of the abstract email should read Abstract for ICLAP 2017.
The Linguistic Association of Pakistan has taken the initiative of this annual conference, recognizing the absence of a platform that provides an opportunity for all concerned stakeholders working in different areas of linguistics and languages to come together and share their concerns, challenges, issues, experiences, innovative methods, and frameworks.
The conference has now emerged as the largest forum available annually to linguists, educators, and researchers. Therefore, the conference themes and sub-themes are purposefully kept broad to cover a wide range of sub-fields, allowing potential presenters and audiences to interact meaningfully.
Your papers and workshops may fall within the areas listed below:
Please make sure to include the following information (in the given order) in your abstract:
Abstracts not conforming to these guidelines may not be considered for review.
Students and young scholars who have just started or are in the middle of their thesis/research work are encouraged to submit abstracts mentioning their ideas and progress. There is a good chance for such submissions to be accepted for **poster presentations**.
After acceptance, poster presenters are required to prepare their posters following these guidelines:
Presenters are required to submit soft copies of the posters via email and provide printed copies at the conference site for display during the event.
